Substance Use
Disorders
In 2018, the National Survey on Drug Use and Health reported that approximately 20.3 million Americans aged 12 or older were struggling with a substance abuse disorder. It is estimated that more than 14.8 million people struggle with Alcohol Use Disorder and 8.1 million people have illicit drug use disorder.

SAMHSA’s National Helpline is a free, confidential, 24/7, 365-day-a-year treatment referral and information service (in English and Spanish) for individuals and families facing mental and/or substance use disorders.
Eating
Disorders
Eating Disorders hold the highest mortality rate of any mental illness. Every sixty minutes, an individual dies due to their eating disorder. Eating disorders do not discriminate across age, gender, or race. There are many contributing factors related to the development of eating disorders such as environment and genetics.
